Favorite Technology that Supports Learning

I am absolutely in love with the interactive white boards or Promethean boards. When I first got hired, one of the questions during my interview was if I'd ever worked with them before. I replied with a very confused no. I had never even heard of them before. As soon as I got home I googled Promethean boards and was immediately amazed as I called my parents into the room to show them the new technology. The possibilities with interactive whiteboards are truly endless. Unfortunately, during my first year of teaching my usage with the technology was pretty basic, but I look forward to discovering ways I can utilize it more this summer. As stated in Chapter 2 of Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching , Promethean boards "help students generate their own knowledge in an active, hands-on way, rather than receiving it passively" (Roblyer & Doering, 2012, p. 46), working well with the constructivist model. Too, it helps to motivate children to learn as well as eliminate the possibilities of scarce resources ( p. 48).

  2. Promethean boards (or interactive boards for that matter), are a great tool to have access to in your classroom! I hope you will have opportunities in your future years of teaching to interact with them more. Great choice of a technology tool!
